Do you know solarization/biosolarization?

In ExpoÁguilas we are proud to be committed to sustainability, betting on fundamentally natural and sustainable farming techniques from the moment of our origin. Today we present solarization/biosolarization, an agricultural technique for disinfection and improvement of soils.

For those who are not aware of these terms, solarization consists of covering the soil with a transparent plastic sheet for a period of time to raise soil temperatures causing the elimination of pathogens, weeds and weed seeds. On the other hand biosolarization, in addition to the cover with transparent plastic, fresh organic matter, such as manure or compost, is added to the soil before covering it. This fresh organic matter breaks down during the process, generating heat and releasing compounds that can help control soil pathogens.   At this stage of the campaign the earliest crops are feared and our partners begin to perform this practice, to start the next campaign in the best possible way.

In short, through the use of techniques that reduce our dependence on chemicals, we are collaborating to achieve a more balanced agriculture, efficient and sustainable with the environment.
