Agriculture Day: Our reason for being
September 1, 2023Our variety of tomatoes
December 11, 2023Have you ever wondered what pollination is? It is a fundamental process in the reproduction of many flowering plants, by which pollen, which contains the male gametes of a plant (the reproductive cells), is transferred from the male part of the flower (stamens) to the female organ. of the flower (pistil). This process is essential for plants to produce seeds and fruits.
Pollination can be carried out by wind, but the most common pollinating agents are insects, which visit flowers in search of nectar and, in doing so, collect pollen from the stamens and unintentionally transport it to other flowers when they search for more. nectar. This process is very efficient and is responsible for the pollination of many cultivated plants, including fruits and vegetables.
In the Expoáguilas greenhouses we are committed to the natural pollination and fertilization of all tomato crops. For this, we use bumblebees of the species Bombus Terrestris. It is a very common species, robust and hairy, with a predominantly black coloration on the front and back of its body and yellow bands on the abdomen. Through them pollination is carried out and thus we guarantee the obtaining of high quality products in a 100% natural way.
